WWE 2006 PPVs From Worst To Best

13. Royal Rumble

The Good: Rey Mysterio's Royal Rumble win was a genuine feel-good moment. The references to the late Eddie Guerrero may have been a little much (did Rey really need to come out in a low rider?), but Rey deserved it and it was better than a Triple H win, which many feared/expected. Edge and John Cena had their usual decent match. While the action was good, the finish was horrible. WWE really dropped the ball hot-shottiing the title from Edge back to Cena so quickly, especially considering the ratings were improving with Edge as champ. The opening Cruiserweight Title Open got the show off to an energetic start. The Bad: Nobody wanted to see JBL take on The Boogeyman, did they? At least it was short. The Kurt Angle/Mark Henry main event was a joke and ended the show on a sour note. The post-match Undertaker pyrotechnics show was lame, too. The Rest: Matt Hardy was violated with Viscera's 'Walrus' move in the Rumble match. Yes, WWE were still punishing Matt for dodging 'Taker's Survivor Series chokeslam (amongst other things).
