WWE: 4 Missed Clues That The Undertaker's Streak Was Ending
4. The Symbolism Of WrestleMania 30
Anniversary editions of WrestleMania are extraordinary for the fact that something memorable tends to occur to mark each anniversary occasion. At WrestleMania 10 the WWE was introduced to the infamous debut of the ladder match, ten years later at WrestleMania 20 the WWE experienced the return of 'The Dead Man' Undertaker and at WrestleMania 25 the WWE Universe were treated to one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time in Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker. Therefore it made sense that the history of WrestleMania Anniversary's signalled the probability that something extra special would likely unfold at the 30th edition of WrestleMania in New Orleans. Perhaps the 'extra special moment' in 2014 was always going to be the breaking of the streak. You might disagree, but is it purely coincidental that the WWE decided to stage and promote WrestleMania 30 in the purple colours of The Undertaker? Couple that with the expectation that something 'big' was likely planned to occur on the night and it certainly seems as if, in hindsight, that the promotion and image of this year's WrestleMania was itself a subtle clue on the part of the WWE that the streak was about to be broken. Similarly the use of symbolism during The Undertaker's WrestleMania 30 entrance could have alluded to the ending of the streak. During the entrance, 21 coffins were placed on the stage referencing the 21 opponents that The Undertaker has defeated at WrestleMania. A 22nd coffin was also placed on the stage that symbolised the widely assumed impending Brock Lesnar loss. The Undertaker saluted the coffin at which point the lid of the coffin opened signalling the impending Lesnar loss but a few seconds later the coffin burst into flames. This series of events might have been another overlooked clue in that Brock Lesnar's destroyed coffin indicated that Lesnar was the man who would defeat The Undertaker and with it 'The Streak.' Of course this is purely suggestive, but it would be ignorant to overlook the fact that something big was expected to happen at the 30th Anniversary of WrestleMania 30, that the show was staged in the colours of The Undertaker and that during The Undertaker's WrestleMania entrance, the destruction of Brock Lesnar's coffin all perhaps hinted to the impending death of the streak.
