1. Sheriff McMahon And The Last Outlaw
This is basically a way to get these two superstars together at Wrestlemania in such a way that doesn't involve someone hunting for the streak alone. One of the reasons I think the last 2 angles with the Deadman at Mania have been compelling is that they have had other layers besides the end of the streak. This all starts with a brutal No Holds Barred or Extreme Rules match which causes controversy (or maybe faux controversy- maybe the commentators and the management hype it up if they are too afraid of losing their precious PG Rating) on a PPV. The next night on Raw, Vince McMahon comes out and says how much the match damaged the WWE's brand as a family friendly show. So it seems fairly clear to him that those sorts of matches are not to be shown any more on WWE TV. What people want instead is good clean family friendly wrestling. So Vince decides to crack down on anyone who is not going by his book, disqualifying people like Daniel Bryan cause their submission holds look too nasty, cutting off CM Punk's mic time cause his promos are too controversial etc, etc. He begins referring to himself as a sheriff looking to clean up the place and he has as an ally his deputy- John Cena. Cena manages to defend his WWE Championship throughout this time through a mixture of luck and resiliance- which infuriates the audience, but means that he's not a bad guy, just a lucky one. This doesn't mean Cena is a heel, it just means he's being used in a way where the reaction that the crowd gives him seems somewhat coherent to the angle- kids will love him cause he's PG while adult males will despise him cause he's too clean cut. McMahon and Cena do everything that they set out to do, until by the Elimination Chamber, Cena is still holding onto the WWE Championship, with McMahon boasting that every last superstar who didn't play by McMahon's rules has been set down by him and his deputy. BONG! The Undertaker makes his familiar entrance, looks at the Wrestlemania sign, draws one hand across his throat and challenges Cena for his Championship- claiming that Cena has turned his back on a legacy that paved the way for him. The story can go in a couple of ways- Cena can end the streak dirty and go completely heel. Cena could tap to the Undertaker and go completely heel. Or the Undertaker could win and give Cena and handshake, turning Cena face once again (I doubt this would be a great idea).
