The rivalry between these two had gotten so heated by this point, that you couldnt wait to see these two tear into one another. Steve Austin had picked up Triple H in his car, with a forklift and dropped the car onto its roof. Triple H returned the favor by screwing Steve Austin out of the WWF, by God, title according to JR. Austin then would cost Hunter the title at the Royal Rumble. They signed a contract that said they couldnt have physical contact with one another until the pay per view, so Austin hit Stephanie with a Stunner and Triple H hit JR with a Pedigree. It came time for the match, it was the 3 Stages of Hell. The first fall was a regular match, the second fall was a Street Fight, and the third and final fall was a Steel Cage match. For nearly 40 minutes, Austin and Hunter gave it their all and put on a classic. Steve Austin had won the first fall, which everyone thought would favor Triple H. Triple H ended up winning the second fall, that everyone thought would favor Austin. It came time for the Cage to be lowered. All of the weapons were still lying in the ring from the previous fall and those weapons would still be used in this fall. At the end, Austin had a barbed wire wrapped 2x4 and Triple H had his sledgehammer. They both swung at the same time and both connected. However, Austin feel first and Hunter fell on top of the Rattlesnake and Triple H got the win. He may have been unconscious, but he got the win.
