WWE: 5 Biggest Superstars Who Never Become World Champion

5. British Bulldog

The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith had multiple runs in the WWF, all of which had points in which he competed or came very close to being the WWF Champion. Working his way up through Tag Team and Intercontinental Gold as many did during the 80's and 90's, Bulldog would first get his push towards the Main Event scene lasting with Shawn Michaels in the 1995 Royal Rumble entering as number 2 and finishing runner up. Later that year, Bulldog got a shot at then WWF Champion Diesel. Following on from this in late 1995 and early 1996, Smith would face both Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels on separate occasions for the WWF Championship. He would again not get the chance to hold the company's major Championship, losing both of these matches and then moving on to the newly created European Championship in 1997. The British Bulldog would once again find himself competing for the WWF Championship upon his return to the WWF in 1999 at the Unforgiven PPV, in a Six Pack Challenge match which was won by a Triple H. Of all the Superstars being looked back on, it is toughest to see who Smith would resemble in the WWE of 2012. With his look, strength and style he could potentially be compared to John Cena or Sheamus, and perhaps in a different era could have filled the top position in the company that Cena currently enjoys. If this were the case, there would have been no doubt Smith would have had at least one reign with one of WWE's two major Championships.
