WWE: 5 Phrases That Michael Cole Uses That We Are All Sick Of

2. "Building Momentum"

This would not be so bad if Cole did not qualify every single *$%^ing thing as "building momentum". Superstars don't want to hone their game before a PPV, they want to "build momentum" towards it. When a superstar is beginning to get some offence in after a bit of a pounding the tide isn't turning, the wrestler is "building momentum". Heck, even when a PPV gets closer often Cole won't say that the PPV is just around the corner, but "we are building momentum towards Summerslam/Wrestlemania/etc." Wrestlers who keep on getting smacked down before their comebacks are not unable to get on a roll, they are "having trouble building momentum". It just comes across as lazy- particularly because it would be so easy to fix and it would make things so much better. This is not a catch phrase like "Rest in Peace" or "Have a Nice Day", this is a commentator who needs to liven things up a bit more and so should be looking to try different phrases and such to help make the matches unique and interesting. As much as that phrase annoys me though, it pales in comparison to what is number one on this list...
