1. Alex Riley
Cast your minds back to June of 2011, at the Capitol Punishment Pay Per View. Alex Riley went over The Miz clean much to the delight of both the casuals and the IWC. This one match showed just how highly regarded Riley was in the company at the time, considering Miz was WWE champion and went over John Cena at Wrestlemania just two months prior. A botched gut wrench power bomb in a match with Jack Swagger was soon to be the death of Alex Riley however, as he was soon faded out of any storyline he was a part of and eventually completely buried by Vince McMahon. Many people believed Riley at the time was far too green to be given a push of such regard, which I also agree with, however after a year of tuning up his craft on Superstars and NXT he is now a solid and dependable in-ring worker, WHO IS STILL OVER! The live show reports always state that Riley receives fantastic pops whenever he is competing or making an appearance. It is not often that this happens after being buried in such a manner. It is also not often that you get a superstar with such natural charisma who also has 'the look', and can hold his own on the mic. A report a few months ago stated that it was in fact John Cena who was holding A-Ry down, due to the fact he had the guts to stand up to Cena ribbing him. As disappointing as this sounds, it is completely unfair to keep down a superstar who has more charisma in his pinky finger than most of the roster. I would begin slowly moving Riley back up the card in a natural progression, have him win the IC or US title, hold it until Mania, where he defends successfully to establish himself, before pushing him into the main event scene around summertime next year. This man is loved by the casuals and IWC alike, something which very rarely happens, so come on Vince what are you waiting for!?
