WWE: 5 Tag Teams And Factions That Broke Up Too Soon

2. The Awesome Truth

Here's a pairing that I never thought I'd say I wanted more of, but if I'm being honest, Miz and R-Truth were pretty great together. I mean, these two guys teaming up because they believed that there was a conspiracy in the WWE to hold them down was just absurd enough to be great. When they attacked Triple H, viewing him as the head of the conspiracy, things really took off for them. They were fired for assaulting the COO the next night on Raw but would make a run-in at Hell In A Cell attacking CM Punk, John Cena, Alberto Del Rio, a referee and a cameraman. These two had never had so much edge to their characters. They would go on to defeat Triple H and CM Punk in a tag team match and main event Survivor Series facing John Cena and The Rock, before breaking up the next night on Raw. It was a fantastic short run, but I have to believe that this duo had more left in the tank. One of the reasons that they broke up following Survivor Series was that R-Truth had to serve a 30-day suspension for a wellness violation. They played this wrong in my opinion, because they could have had Truth and Miz believe that the suspension was another facet of the conspiracy against them. While Truth was away, The Miz would work to get to the bottom of who is working against them, and Raw GM John Laurinaitis would point the finger of blame at Smackdown GM Teddy Long. John Laurinaitis would then use Miz and a returning R-Truth as saboteurs of Smackdown and as his personal hit team. Awesome Truth could have lasted through to 2012 and very possibly could have been part of some great moments, matches, and promos. Since Awesome Truth, neither man has been able to regain the notoriety that they had when together. Both gave turned babyface, which was probably the wrong decision for both their careers, and now R-Truth is in a meaningless tag team with Xavier "I ripped off Brodus' gimmick" Woods, and The Miz is basically an announcer who occasionally wrestles. Needless to say that Awesome Truth was a fairly high point for both men and extending their run a little longer would have only been good for them.
