WWE: 5 Tag Teams That Can Fill The Void

4. The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsky9BBNZ3g Another NXT duo that could be called upon to make the leap to the main roster is The Ascension. Konnor and Viktor are a hard team to describe to those who haven't seen them but I'll give it a shot. They are a pair of gothic superstars whose origin is still a mystery, are extremely aggressive (which started a trend of reffering to them as rage vampires) and speak constantly about how "they will rise". Think the Ministry Of Darkness' Acolytes, only more aggressive and savage. There have been several denominations of this team; originally they were a faction managed by Ricardo Rodriguez that featured Conor O'Brian, Kenneth Cameron, Epico and Raquel Diaz (the daughter of Eddie Guerrero). Ricardo was part of the faction for about a week, they adopted the gothic and supernatural gimmick soon after, and before long the group dwindled down to just Conor O'Brian (after Epico was called up to the main roster, Raquel departed the group then stepped away from the WWE, and Kenneth Cameron was fired). It wasn't long before Rick Victor joined O'Brian to make a formidable tag team. Soon afterward they won NXT Tag Team Gold, changed their names to Konnor and Viktor and are now The Ascension that you can check out on NXT each week. While this group has the potential to be something very interesting, and are very capable of being solid workers on the main roster, there are a few things that make me apprehensive about actually calling them up. Firstly, their gimmick seemingly has no purpose. They are a mystery that there is evidently no solution to. We don't get info on why they are the way they are, or what their motivations are, and on the main roster that might get old. Secondly I don't know if you can have a team like this existing in the same narrative as The Wyatts without it challenging a viewer's ability to suspend their disbelief. That said I would love to have another supernatural gimmick in the WWE, and if their back-story and mission is fleshed out, I could see them being a somewhat terrifying (at least by WWE's standards) addition to the main roster.
