4. The Triple Threat
Given my avowed dislike for noted whiny bastard Shane Douglas, it'd be easy for me to write off both him and his Diet Horsemen. That's what I would do if the Triple Threat wasn't a perfect ECW-brand alternative to the Crockett/WCW Horsemen. They were loud, brash, and dominant like the real thing, but they were also particularly sleazy in their second (and best) incarnation, when Douglas joined forces with Bam Bam Bigelow and Chris Candido as his replacements for Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. Douglas in particular deserves major credit for being both a cocky top heel
and a loudmouth demagogue for the ECW fanbase--a fine line to walk, and one he walked effectively. Despite my dislike for Monsieur Franchise, I must confess that the Triple Threat is something of a guilty pleasure of mine, and they deserve a spot among the top stables of all the times.
