WWE: 5 Wrestlers Who Could Be The New Anti-Authority Babyface

3. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan If there is a wrestler who has had their face rubbed in the dirt lately by the Authority it would be Daniel Bryan. Every little victory has been savoured by the WWE universe and every defeat has been greeted with boos. This culminated in the Rumble match where the WWE wrong footed itself and allowed itself to be derided by an audience that thought they were giving the hottest wrestler on the roster the run around. There is no doubt that Bryan does not have the 'look' of a normal clean cut babyface that the WWE have often gone to the well for. Furthermore as the best in-ring worker the WWE has on the roster, his move set is varied enough to appease those who despise the more shallow elements of where sports entertainment has taken pro wrestling and the WWE in particular. The thing is though in some ways, Bryan is more than anti-authority as everybody likes him. Indeed one could argue that Bryan has become mainstream pretty much organically with the WWE audience anointing him as the next big star. Though the WWE may still not want to admit it, Bryan is white hot popular in a way that CM Punk or Jeff Hardy before him could only dream about and so the idea of filling Punk's role could almost be a step down for him. His gimmick is not like Cena or Punk, merely down to earth and the audience loves the idea of him chasing the dream. They are just getting sick of the WWE taking it away from him.
