WWE: 6 Reasons Why 1992 Royal Rumble Match Is The Best Ever

5. What A Surprise! Hulk Hogan Didn't Win!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2q1V5mXxNM The biggest name in WWE at the time was Hulk Hogan. There's no question about that. Hogan was also the guy that won the 1990 and 1991 Royal Rumble match. He took part in the 1989 Rumble match, but was actually eliminated by the Twin Towers. Because of Hogan's big name, he likely went into the match as the favorite. Obviously back in 1992 there wasn't an internet around for people to complain about the guy that wins all the time, but I'm sure that if there was then many fans would have been angry about the possibility of yet another Hogan win. Hogan entered the match at #26, which was obviously a favorable position. There was a big reaction when he entered, which isn't a surprise. The ring was full of legends by that point and Hogan was able to quickly eliminate his his main rival at the time, The Undertaker. Hogan lasted until the final three with Ric Flair and Sid Justice. Then, a shocking thing happened. When Hogan was working over Flair in the corner, Justice snuck up behind Hogan and threw him over the top to the floor. They were friends heading into the match, but that was Sid's way of turning heel and setting up their match at WrestleMania 8. It's interesting to note that a lot of fans cheered when Hogan was eliminated, so perhaps that was their way of saying they didn't want Hogan to win either. After Hulk failed to win, he showed poor sportsmanship by grabbing on to the arm of Sid. That allowed Flair to sneak up behind Sid and dump him over the top to win the match. Be a star, Hogan! Be a star!
