WWE: 6 Reasons Why Ratings No Longer Matter

4. There Is No Competition

Wwe2 There will always be pro wrestling in the world. Doesn't matter how culturally relevant it may be at any given time. You will always have a fanbase ready and willing to sit down and get a fix of sports entertainment. And since WCW and ECW went out of business, and the product that is known as TNA currently reeking of excrement, there is only one place in the entire planet where you can get that fix. So you wish to check out some wrestling on the boob tube. Okay, now the United States does have independent federations, usually showcased on their local television stations. I believe Canada and Japan do also. But everywhere else, there is only ONE source of sports entertainment, and that is the WWE. Simply because there is nothing else to take them on. Using Australia as an example, yes we have local feds but none of them are televised. Hell, they have so little funding that we barely even know when they are performing locally. They all have a presence on facebook, but nothing much else (for more on why you have never heard of the Australian brand of pro-wrestling, click here). So if you want to watch wrestling, you have to watch the WWE. And we have WWE programming five days of the week, six if you count TNA and repeats. You heard that right. Ironically only Monday does not have a timeslot for the WWE product (we get RAW on Wednesdays). And even though we do get TNA, it is part of a sporting channel that does not really cater for the pro wrestling demographic (most people don't even realize we get TNA down under except for the hardcore fans), so for most, it is either the WWE or nothing. And it is like that just about everywhere else outside of the main territories mentioned earlier. So WWE RAW can be just as bad as TNA ratings wise in the United States, as globaly it won't affect the product one bit.

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
