WWE: 6 Reasons Why Ratings No Longer Matter

1. The WWE Network

There is no doubt about it. Forget about professional wrestling, this will change television as we know it. And not only that but this will help the WWE transcend over traditional rules and stigma associated with the now almost defunct boob tube and become a major player in the online future of this medium. Think about the full ramifications of this announcement. Gone will be the days of prepackaged bundles associated with unscrupulous cable companies. There will be no need for PPV carriers or even standard network television for that matter. This is the future and in time it will eventually prove my article in full. Along with the inclusion of so many defunct federations as part of its scheduling it will serve as a focal point and starting point for all new fans of professional wrestling. Many people (especially the young padawans) can now revisit ECW, WCW and various other wrestling federations in full uncensored glory and showcase the very reasons why many from this era are considered legends and why these companies made such an impact. Not to mention the fact that this will not only be a 24/7 revenue stream for the MacMahon conglomerate but unless there is a unified global ratings system devised (and that won't happen anytime soon), the WWE has all but sidestepped the need to adhere to any and all types of rating systems to have their programming shown to the masses on a global scale. And even if in technical terms their actual ratings suffers a downturn and resembles something like that of TNA's current woes, it again no longer matters as they still will receive 100% of all revenue and as I alluded to earlier, there will always be a market for sports entertainment. This has been proven time and time again and now that the WWE have unshackled themselves from the limitations of traditional media they can pretty much dictate whatever the hell they want in terms of original programming. So that is why when you read these rants and dirt sheet reports that indicate how badly the WWE is in popularity you should probably take it with a grain of salt. As it is most likely someone who is just screaming hate purely to get you to click on their link. They call it sensationalized media for a reason. As anyone who has truly done their research would already know everything I have said to you today. And those smarks out there that say otherwise. Well, they too, just like you, will be signing up to the WWE network and making this article even more relevant. Just like me. Shut up WWE and take my money. Futurama meme

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
