WWE: 6 Ways To Improve The Intercontinental Title's Prestige

2. More Title Defenses on Television

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w-vLNfij98 Big E won the IC Title on November 18, 2013 and in the 95 days since that victory, how many televised title defenses has he had? Maybe five. That's just a guess on my part. It's probably less than that. As far as PPV title defenses, he beat Damien Sandow at TLC and didn't defend it at the Royal Rumble. As mentioned, he'll face Jack Swagger at Elimination Chamber. His lack of title defenses hurts the value of the title because if fans don't see a champion defending the gold then they will call a person a loser due to the lack of defenses. Look at the US Title for example. Dean Ambrose has barely defended that thing. They've even made jokes about it on the show where they're supposed to be booking the guy to defend it. It doesn't make sense that they would make fun of themselves for doing a job bad of booking a title, but that's what they do. When you're a babyface champion like Big E, you should be defending the gold more often. What's the point of having the title if you aren't going to defend it more? Put title matches on Raw and Smackdown. People don't always have to earn title shots. They should have Big E talk about how he will take on all comers. The TV matches could be 7-10 minute matches where Big E goes over somebody. Have Vickie Guerrero or Brad Maddox book him in matches against various midcarders. The more he defends the title, the more he wins matches, the more valuable the title becomes and the bigger a star he is.
