WWE: 7 Failures With Sheamus' Return

After missing nearly 5 months of WWE action, Sheamus finally returned as a "surprise" entrant in the 2014 Royal Rumble match at number 17, and lasted nearly half an hour until he was finally eliminated by Roman Reigns. However, for many people, including myself, one thing stood out about his return: it was a complete failure. We've seen lots of people who returned as surprise entrants in the Rumble and went on to be the main focus of WWE programming, such as John Cena in 2008 and Edge in 2010, for example. And this year, Sheamus returned at the Rumble and went straight to midcard irrelevancy. It€™s funny how WWE€™s €œreverse pushes€ work these days. It used to be about guys working their way up from the lower reaches of the card to the midcard and finally to the main event, which is a method proven to work, just look at Daniel Bryan. But then you have a guy like Sheamus, who won the WWE Championship right after debuting and gradually fell until he got to the so-called €œmidcard hell€; doesn€™t make sense. Sure, he can be built back up towards the main event, but his return surely didn€™t help that case at all. In this article, I will list the 7 main reasons why Sheamus' return was a bust.
