WWE: 7 Most Religious Gimmicks In History

5. Mordecai

Mordecai was another short lived character that debuted on the WWE Smackdown brand in 2004. He was labeled a religious Zealot-type of character that talked about how he was on a crusade to rid the world of sin. It should also be noted that the name Mordecai is one of the main personalities in the Book of Esther in the Hebrew Bible. We never got to really know what Mordecai was supposed to be. At times he appeared to be this regular guy that wore white to reflect his purity as a person while at other times he looked like a supernatural man. In his debut match against Scotty 2 Hotty at Judgment Day 2004, Mordecai won after applying the move that we knew as the Razor's Edge by Razor Ramon. The reason he did it was because he held his opponents arms out like a cross, which is a religious symbol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT5z3ER8U6s He debuted in April 2004 and by July 2004 the character was gone. Notice a theme here? Another religious based character that was taken off TV soon after his debut.
