2. The Rock vs. Mankind vs. Ken Shamrock - WWE Breakdown 1998
You may recall this match because it was on WWE's September 1998 PPV event called Breakdown from Hamilton, Ontario. It was a triple threat match that took place inside of the steel blue cage that WWE used to use in the 1990s. The match came at a time when The Rock was becoming a huge babyface, so we were really loud for everything that he did. A couple of months after this, he went back to his heel ways as the corporate stooge of Vince McMahon. They had a really entertaining match full of action where we cheered everything Rock did, hated anything that Shamrock did and were supportive of everything Mankind did too. As I watched the match back again, I remember how loud the reactions were for so many moments in this match like when Mankind missed an elbow off the top of the steel cage. There was a loud "thud" when he landed. It really was a lot of fun to watch that match in person. The finish of the match was something that put over Rock for being a smart guy while Mankind was an idiot. Mankind knocked out Shamrock with a steel chair. Instead of pinning him, he tried to climb over the cage and that allowed Rock to cover Shamrock to win. There haven't been too many triple threat matches inside a steel cage, but this is one was pretty awesome. Glad to be there live for it.
