WWE: 8 Controversies Batista Has ALREADY Caused Since Returning
7. The B Level Era
In that same attack on Del Rio, Batista managed to alienate the WWE locker room in addition to the Mexican star. He did this when he mentioned Del Rio was working in a B level era. Basically, Batista doesn't think the WWE locker room is as good as his day. It's hardly the way to endear yourself to a bunch of people working their tails off is it? Sure, it's true that WWE is inferior right now, but it's hardly sensible to say it. He had essentially just called his employer not as good as it used to be. If any other WWE talent did this then they might have expected some repercussions, just ask Dolph Ziggler. Instead Batista was getting written into WWE with a Royal Rumble win and Wrestlemania main event. Needless to say, several people backstage in WWE immediately had heat with Batista over the comments. The Animal had quickly deleted the tweets, but the damage was done - he was the talk of the locker room at the next Raw. The sentiment among Batista's peers was that he was bringing a big ego with him. In my opinion, The Animal is indeed guilty of that charge. I have no doubt that Batista really believes this era or wrestling is a cheap version of the era he main evented. Despite his assertion actually being true, there are so many hard workers in WWE right now. It's hurtful for them to hear their efforts aren't up to scratch, additionally Batista arguably got lucky in 2005 coming in off the heels of a hot era (with the aid of being a HHH pet project to boot). Then again, he may just point to the PPV buy rates he pulled back in the day and say there is no argument - he's right.
