WWE: 8 Major Injuries That Ended The Undertaker's Career

3. Hip

A hip problem is something you might expect your seventy year old granddad to suffer from, but in 49 year old Mark Calaway's case it has been one of his biggest impediments for some time now. Quite how he has continued to work through his hip issues is beyond belief, it is the type of injury which usually ends a pro-sport career. Nevertheless, Undertaker has found ways to work through the hip pain and adapted his ring style around it. A more sensible option would probably have been retirement, but Taker resisted for years. Instead, in 2009 after his epic encounter with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25, Undertaker underwent hip surgery. He was back later that year to establish the sequel of the Michaels match, but the hip surgery was really the point Taker faced up to the necessity of dropping off his style and schedule somewhat. In the years afterward he had cut back his work to solely Mania season, he didn't take as many risks, and he required WWE to book him with people who could get him safely through a match without aggravating the injuries. The need for these ring generals to aid Undertaker was sorely exposed at WrestleMania 30 where Brock Lesnar struggled to lead Taker.
