WWE: 8 Wrestlers Whose Gimmicks Were Totally Ripped Off From Movies
2. Say Hello To A Parody, Mane
The Razor Ramon character began life in 1992. And like many of those funny little creation stories that surface from time to time, it was originally a joke. Scott Hall said later on that in meetings with Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson, he would talk in a bad Cuban accent and pitch vignettes of him driving a convertible with leopard skin interior around South Florida. Vince and Pat were both floored by the idea and hailed Scott as a genius. Vince and Pat, it later transpired, had never seen or heard of the film Scarface. Scarface was brought out in 1982 starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana, and is considered THE gangster film of gangster films alongside The Godfather ten years before. Tony Montana was a small, psychotic Cuban who ascends to the top of a criminal empire, before going down in a furious shootout, firing an M16 while screaming "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!" Its a screenshot of the '80s criminal underworld in Miami that would later be the setting of GTA Vice City. And Scott Hall wholeheartedly ripped it off. The toothpick, the gold chains, the cars, the accent, the demeanour, "The Bad Guy" nickname. The only thing he could have done to be MORE like Tony Montana is develop a massive drug hab.... Oh.
