He debuted in 1955, and has been credited as the pioneer of steel chair spots, and in truth, the roots of hardcore wrestling arguably began with Jackie Fargo. The legacy of the popular star encompassed multiple tag title reigns, and he became a key figure in passing down the craft to the next generation of talent. Fargo was the biggest influence in Jerry 'The King' Lawler's career, and he was an important figure within the Memphis wrestling scene. His charismatic strut was also the inspiration for Nature Boy Ric Flair's walk. "He was such an innovator at a time when a lot of wrestling, to me, at least, seemed bland," Jerry 'The King' Lalwer told WWE.com, "Suddenly, Jackie Fargo stuck out, and I idolized the guy." He passed away in June aged 82.
