2. Impact Loses A Lot

The Hardy Boys, Mike Bennett, Maria, Jade, Drew Galloway and maybe even Brooke are all gone from Impact. Of course, plenty of new names are coming in at the moment, but some of the most beloved acts from the show’s last era are gone and didn’t get any sort of farewell. That’s bad for the fans.

While this may work out for the company in the long run from a financial situation, the damage is pretty damn destructive from a storytelling standpoint. Did you want to know what the endgame of the Hardy’s conquest to capture all the tag titles in the world was? Too bad! Did you want to see Maria and Allie fight after months of feuding? Oh well! Even Brooke was in the process of being built up as Rosemary’s next challenger. Those are a lot of loose threads in the narrative, which won’t be closed up in any practical way.

Heading into their newest, new era, Impact is putting out the perception their management team is one that f***s up when it comes to contracts. The show is then affected too, because it’s harder to get invested in the biggest angles when it feels like the featured players can leave at any time.

Jeff Jarrett clearly has a lot of work to do in the near future of re-establishing goodwill with his diminishing fan base. Here's to hoping he's up for the job.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
