WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (April 5)

6. AJ Lee Retires

In the past 20 years, perhaps only Sable, Trish Stratus and Lita had a more popular peak for a woman in WWE than AJ Lee did. During the CM Punk, Kane, and Daniel Bryan love storyline, AJ was arguably the most entertaining character in the company. Unfortunately, once she became the GM, she was overexposed, and the company never got back on track by re-capturing the magic of her crazy chick character. Still, she€™s easily been the most over woman wrestler on the roster over the past couple years. Not anymore. This past week AJ retired from WWE. Is she pregnant? Did she get tired of the poor treatment of women in the company? Will she join her husband CM Punk, go to UFC and take on Ronda Rousey? Well, highly doubtful, but it€™s still a shame to see her go. She seemed disgruntled this past year, had her mic time cut in half, and took long stretches of time off. It€™s amazing she stayed on so long. Maybe had WWE given athletic and charismatic women real storylines she€™d still have her passion. This is a woman who has a tattoo on her neck celebrating her first Divas title win. She loved wrestling so much, and then within a couple years she couldn€™t go on. Seems to be a bit of a recurring theme in WWE.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
