WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (August 30)

7. Brutal Mic Work

If you listen to many of the all-time great wrestlers, they say what got them over is speaking from the heart on their promos. They didn€™t have a script carefully written out for them by a former soap opera writer. They could deliver their words in the moment, producing genuine emotion. Times have changed. Watching wrestlers like Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler, it€™s like we€™re seeing them straining to remember lines, instead of the wrestlers just being themselves. It feels forced. This week, Nikki Bella took forced to another level during her promo on Raw. As PCB were talking about being dominant in the ring, The Bella's music played, the Divas Champion made her entrance and exclaimed €œDominant? That€™s like saying Donald Trump€™s favorite holiday is Cinco de Mayo.€ Ugh. And what? So we€™re supposed to believe she came up with that lame attempt at being culturally relevant one second before coming out? Some writer is trying way too hard, and the results are brutal, and just enforce the idea that we€™re watching a scripted show, instead of getting caught up in the moment. And brutal? This entire Divas€™ Revolution has been more brutal than Trump€™s entire campaign!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
