WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Dec 20)

4. Extreme Is Kind Of Normal

There€™s a couple things that bother me when it comes to hardcore style matches in WWE. The first is JBL€™s obnoxious laughing and €œOh boy! This sure is awesome! Whoa! Look at those toys! Hoo ha!€ Shouldn€™t he be showing some concern for the wrestlers being attacked with inanimate objects? The second annoying thing is that no matter how badly a wrestler is beaten, they always come back the next night looking no worse for wear. At TLC, Jack Swagger was hit with chair a dozen times. Usually, one chair knocks a wrestler out, so 12 must put them in the hospital right? Nah, they had very little effect, because Swagger was €œneeded€ on Raw to be in a meaningless tag match. Keeping him off air even for a week would reinforce the idea of how dangerous those matches can be, and thus make them more important and exciting to watch in the future. During the main event at the pay-per-view, JBL put over how Sheamus and Roman wouldn€™t be able to walk out of the building. Well, they easily did, and had a rematch the next night. Sheamus had some crazy bruises, so no one would have blamed him if they played up he was unable to fight. We see regular matches every single week, so when the company does do extreme ones at least make it seem like the stakes are higher. Otherwise, what€™s the point in doing them at all?

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
