WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Feb 12)

7. RIP Chavo

Chavo Guerrero had a pretty interesting life. He was a member of the legendary Guerrero family. He was the oldest man to ever win the Cruiserweight Title. He was fired from WWE, but still had the belt in his possession, so he came back to work to lose it to Rey Mysterio, which was a pretty classy thing to do. He also had a neat indie song written about him. Legend!

Then there were some not so good things, like after he was fired he was rumored to have claimed he was kidnapped at gunpoint, which apparently no one in management bought. He also didn't seem to care much for gay people. That last part is especially not cool.

Longtime WWE fans likely remember him for his 2004 run as Chavo Classic. While his career dates back decades further with work in Mexico and All Japan Pro Wrestling, he randomly emerged out of nowhere to join his son in the world's largest promotion while in his 50s. The two developed a pretty entertaining pairing, and Chavo Sr. quickly grew into a featured character on SmackDown. But he grew tired of playing comedy fodder and quit...or was kidnapped...or something.

Also of note was a final great performance in Lucha Underground in 2016, where he got to turn his back on the Mysterio clan one last time.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
