WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Feb 19)
5. T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E, Yes
I think a lot of wrestling fans are thinking this right now, but just like Josh Matthews, it might be time for James Ellsworth to take a hike. Maybe add in Carmella as well, but I won’t get greedy.
At first, Ellsworth was pretty good in the role of the ultimate underdog. His facial expressions and acting matched the tone of his character, which was of a man far out of his league. It worked for a bit. But what he’s doing now is painful. He seems like he’s on the wrong show. The Disney Channel would be more fitting for his style of performance. His clothes are too cartoonish, his facial expressions are too over-the-top and his acting is too forced. He seems to be one of Vince's guilty pleasures, which could keep him employed for a long time to come, but it's no longer fun. One of wrestling's best feel good stories in years now feels very bad.
The natural program and blow off for James would have been a match with Dean Ambrose a couple months back. He cost his buddy the title, so maybe Dean could have chased him for a bit, then they'd finally fight at a pay-per-view, Ellsworth would have been destroyed and sent packing. Then maybe now and again he could pop in for the night in a cameo. It could have been fun! But he was overexposed, the angle with Dean was rushed and now he's hanging on for no apparent reason. He took up valuable TV time at Elimination Chamber by starring in a series of lame skits, and besides feeling incredibly forced, it was really unfunny.
The man with two hands also has two feet. It may be best for us all if he walked away.
