WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Jan 11)

2. I've Got Some Bad News: Wade Barrett Has The Intercontinental Title

Dolph Ziggler€™s epic 22 day run with the Intercontinental Title came to an end on Raw. Let€™s look back at the recent history of the belt. It was Ziggler who finally ended the reign of Luke Harper. After three weeks, It seemed that the evil former Wyatt Family member would never lose the gold! Luckily he was stopped before week four, and at 27 days, we were saved. Let€™s not even get started on Ziggler€™s record-shattering 56 day run with it before that. The Intercontinental Title is a curse. Whoever holds it loses 90% of their wrestling ability. You go from a high mid-carder to Barry Horowitz overnight. And not 1995 Barry Horowitz, when he got to beat Skip. We€™re talking 1998 WCW Saturday Night Horowitz. WWE didn€™t even give Wade Barrett a single victory before having him lose to Sin Cara on SmackDown. Sin Cara? What was the point of that? After all these title changes, and champions losing in non-title matches, the Intercontinental Title is becoming the Hardcore Title, except less entertaining. The Hardcore Title was at least defended at Chuck E. Cheese once. I pulled a quote from The Monday Night War show last week, but I felt it was apropos to do it for the most recent episode as well, since WWE continues to make WCW sized errors. This is what Joey Styles had to say while mocking his dead competitor:
€œHey we€™ve got another title change. Hey we€™ve got another title change. Well, after the third title change, the title doesn€™t mean anything.€
Yep.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
