WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Jan 15)
1. People Declaring Things
With so many authority figures in professional wrestling, you’d assume that there’d be some sort of law and order. That apparently isn’t the case. On Monday, Seth Rollins gleefully announced that he was in the Royal Rumble. That was it. He said it, and so it became true. He proclaimed that right in front of Stephanie, so then...who approved that request?
If it’s that easy, well then, right here and right now I’d like to formally announce that I’M in the Royal Rumble! Did that...did that work? I’m guessing WWE will be sending me flight information at any time now.
Impact, though, had an even more ridiculous situation when Bobby Lashley announced on the spot that his match with EC III was going to be a number one contenders match. No one objected to this, not even The Pope and Josh Matthews. All right then. If that’s all somebody has to do, then why doesn't every single wrestler declare title shots whenever they feel like it?
Next week Eddie Edwards should have to defend his title 30 times, because every wrestler on the roster should be challenging him to impromptu championship matches. They'd be stupid not to.
Come on TNA, there has to be SOME rules! I don’t want to see Dixie Carter announcing matches on a weekly basis, but there needs to be sort of order and logic to their show. Otherwise there’s just mass chaos. That’s been TNA’s strategy for over 14 years now, so maybe it’s time to try a new approach.
Time to kick out.
