At heart, Im a fan. So no matter what, Im going to mark out for the NWO. Whenever that theme song hits I cant help but get up off my couch, grab my cat and pretend its a guitar and play along to the music. However, Ill say from a business standpoint having a bunch of guys from the late 90s show up The Ascension probably isnt the best long term business decision. In the 1980s did the Road Warriors ever get a beat down from Mr. Wrestling 2, The Spoiler and Bill Watts while they were all in their 50s? Im not saying The Ascension is the Warriors. Heck, I dont think theyll ever be as big as The Powers of Pain. Scratch that, theyre not even Kronik! But we havent even seen Konnor and Viktor wrestle an actual competitive match before they were made to look foolish. Getting beat up by legends sure didnt do anything for Rob Conway and Heath Slater in the past. That's also in part to how WWE usually treats their former wrestlers as clowns. Well, Ascension may go over The Outlaws at The Rumble, but it seems that management may believe this duo is already on the descent.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
