WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (July 24)

7. Draft Logic

John Cena SmackDown WWE Draft

I have a few gripes with the draft. Feel free to ignore my petty complaints! I’m going off the premise that WWE should not ignore their own narrative, and how they portray people on the air, because that is the reality that they give us every week.

A.J. Styles was drafted before John Cena. From any sort of perspective...why would that happen? In real life, Styles is less than two months younger than Cena. In terms of storylines he couldn’t beat Jericho or Roman Reigns in a feud. He couldn’t beat Cena without cheating. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan have witnessed all this.

Also, Cena is also often called the greatest WWE star of all time by the announcers, and he sells a butt load of merchandise. He went seventh. They could argue his schedule is slowing down, well, then why would Brock go eighth if he's only going to wrestle 10% (at absolute most) as much as Cena?

Besides that, The Ascension went before Apollo Crews, despite losing in embarrassing fashion every single time they fight. Nakamura, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and The Revival weren’t invited to either show. I understand it's because they need some star power in NXT, but the company doesn’t bother to give us any explanation on-air of why they weren’t drafted. It just makes the authority figures look foolish for taking Carmella and not Bayley.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
