WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (July 24)

2. Foley?

Again, I like Mick Foley. He’s provided us with a lot of great entertainment over the years. He can be funny, he can still cut great promos, but I don’t want to see him in a weekly authority role. He did this in the year 2000, and did a great job as the commissioner of Raw. Maybe in 2002 I would have wanted him to reprise the act, but not 2016.

Hell, in 2008 Foley joined TNA Impact as an authority figure! It just needs to end. Like Bryan, he can show up as a guest ref. He can come in and cut promos for big angles, but as a weekly act interacting with Stephanie McMahon, I just don’t care. It’s recycled nonsense that continues to put the wrestlers in the background, exactly like Cesaro pointed out.

Foley could be the absolute best authority figure WWE has ever seen, but it would still be something that we’ve done before a long, long time ago. It would have been like WWE bringing Jack Tunney back in he Attitude Era. As much as this company keeps talking about a new era, they’re frustratingly stuck in the past in so many key ways.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
