WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (July 26)

Kevin Owens. The man can talk, he can wrestle, and he has loads of charisma. He was given a clean win over John Cena in his first main roster match, and now he feels like just another upper mid-card heel who cant win the big one. What happened? Within WWEs world of storytelling, why did they throw away such a monumental achievement? Owens beating the face of the company in his first match should have been HUGE. He should have been bragging for months, ducking any sort of rematch, and making the wrestling world wait for Cena to get his hands on him. Instead, Owens lost clean two weeks later...and then again five weeks later. That win means absolutely nothing now. Sure, the announcers can talk about him still being a threat, but hes been exposed as mortal. The ratings may not have reflected that he was a big draw, but you cant expect things to change so quickly. Vince McMahon second guessed himself, and went with old reliable in Cena. Perhaps he forgot that it took over a year of Raw being more entertaining than Nitro for fans to notice and switch over. It also took months after Austins 3:16 moment before he truly became a star. Owens was given two weeks to increase the ratings and he failed. But he was set up with impossible criteria to beat. The show is too long, the talent is over exposed, and the storytelling is weak. One man isn't going to suddenly bring in hundreds of thousands of fans. Oh well, at least we still have more fresh match ups like Randy Orton vs. Sheamus to look forward to.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
