WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Mar 26)

6. Steph > Kevin Owens

I€™ll never understand. I€™ll just never get it. I have no idea what goes on in Stephanie McMahon€™s mind when she approves a script that has her either A) Talking down to a babyface wrestler who doesn€™t have a good response, or B) Talking down to a heel who weakly accepts the fate she€™s given them.
€œYou€™re standing in this room with me and I call the shots. Now do me a favor and hit the lights on the way out!€ -Stephanie to Kevin Owens on Raw.
How does that help Kevin in any way? When he first debuted, wasn€™t he a lot more over, and interesting when he was a badass heel who could beat John Cena in a fair fight? His €œcharacter development€ since then sucks. He€™s not on any sort of journey, he€™s basically spiraled into a coward for no real reason. The problem is, there€™s a full roster of heels who are like that already. It has nothing to do with Steph being a woman, it has everything to do with her being a non-wrestler. If the person she€™s talking down to isn€™t able to wrestle her to settle their feud, or even talk back to her, then they look weaker. Same goes with Hunter or Vince. And when the the actual talent looks weaker, they lose their mystique. When that happens, they they are no longer stars, and no one wants to pay to see them. Huh. That actually might help explain those ratings.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
