WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (March 8)

3. The Life And Times Of Axelmania

It often seems that WWE does not want you to get over unless you€™re someone they wanted to get over. On a larger scale, we saw that with Daniel Bryan, who was inexplicably turned heel to join the Wyatt Family last year, until fan backlash forced things to turn back. Before that, Zack Ryder was getting buried despite the crowd wanting better for him. On a smaller scale, Heath Slater was receiving some crowd chants last year, while they continued to have him job like crazy. Curtis Axel is now getting the best reaction of his career, and is booked to look as effective as a man who couldn€™t stand toe-to-toe with Barry Horowitz. In fact, this is the only time anyone ever reacted to Axel positively or negatively! Even matches against John Cena and Triple H upon his re-debut couldn€™t elicit much more than a shoulder shrug at best from 95% of the audience. This time he met up with Cena again, and it€™s clear his wrestling abilities have somehow disappeared. God forbid they gave Axel 30 seconds worth of offense in his match, or even land a single punch. Because that would have been something. And shame on Cena for lying to the audience! He said Axel wouldn€™t be able to walk out of the ring, but I didn€™t see any stretcher. I smell a rematch! Maybe they€™ll at least give Axel a back rake this time.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
