WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (May 8)

1. Screw Off, Screwjob!

DAMMIT! Titanic and the original Men in Black were in theaters the year The Montreal Screwjob went down. Why can€™t anyone in management let this thing go? Look at Bret Hart€™s face at Payback, it€™s clear that even he doesn€™t give a damn any more. Actually I€™m not so sure he€™s still into this whole wrestling thing either any more, but I digress.

The thing is, this real-life shoot keeps getting turned into non-shoot angles to...get someone out there to think it€™s real? To try to make the original screwjob a joke? For Bret Hart to have a reason to give a guy nearing 70 a Sharpshooter?

Let€™s recall that Bret had already been screwed with the screwjob finish post-Montreal in an angle in WCW. In 1999, Vince Russo was still very much into that story, despite it being two years old at the time. So he booked Starrcade, their biggest event of the year, to end with Goldberg ghost tapping out to the Sharpshooter. It was old, tired and dumb by that point.

Hey, it was also the match that cost Bret his career, so maybe out of respect to him, they can quit doing it. Or maybe they can at least respect the dead horse they keep beating.

Time to kick out.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
