WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Nov 22)

6. This Week In €œWhat€™s The Point?€

Last week on SmackDown, Kalisto picked up the biggest upset in WWE in some time when he pinned Ryback. It was a genuine surprise, and a feel good moment that was hopefully the start of something for him. This week on Raw he lost to Alberto Del Rio, and then got pinned by Big E in a meaningless tag team in 80 seconds. That little bit of momentum he got has been squashed. Why? So the Del Rio loss was pretty inevitable, but the SmackDown beating was crushing for his character. This is why jobbers no longer being a part of wrestling is so discreetly damaging. Sure, those quick matches were foregone conclusions, but they made the winners look like stars. With ratings already in the tank, would anyone actually turn the channel if two no-namers fought The New Day instead of The Lucha Dragons? That way Kalisto could be protected, and The New Day picks up a little TV time and an easy victory. It€™s hard to get excited about any mid-carder these days when they somehow get a little momentum: Titus O€™Neil, Cesaro, Kalisto, Dolph Ziggler, Alicia Fox, etc. Because before long, they€™re placed back exactly where they were. It€™s frustrating to watch, and must be defeating for the wrestlers to live through. It feels like 90% of the company is an interchangeable mid-card purgatory.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
