WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Oct 8)

7. Lashley Loses The Title

Eddie Edwards TNA Champion

Eddie Edwards was not the guy to dethrone Bobby Lashley as the TNA Heavyweight Champion, and especially not with the way he’s been booked lately.

Edwards lost in the Grand Championship tournament to Aron Rex, then he lost to DJ Z in an X Division Title match and then went right back to lose to Aron Rex at Bound for Glory for good measure. Then he became champ.

Lashley had a ton of cache built up in him, so whoever took him down would get a rub from it.

The way it played out felt absolutely meaningless. It was like when the company gave the world title to Eric Young or Chris Sabin, basically because they were there for long enough, and not because fans wanted it to happen (well, and because Young vaguely looked like Daniel Bryan. Do they think Edwards sorta looks like A.J. Styles?).

Edwards already held the X Division title this year, and it didn’t really get over, why was he then rewarded with the World Title? Unless TNA has some master plan in mind, then this was a really big, obvious mistake.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
