WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sep 28)

7. Unnecessary

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUdcvAS7vZQ Chairshots to the head in professional wrestling tend to have a bad name these days, and rightfully so. After brain damage being discovered in former wrestlers, it€™s best to avoid them. However, if chairshots are done, they should be used in incredibly rare circumstances, where it can at least progress a storyline and come across as a shocking tactic by a heel. They should also be done safely with a trick camera angle, and the wrestlers hands taking the brunt of the blow. TNA gave us a chairshot straight to the noggin on Impact, and it was forgotten five seconds later. Sam Shaw took on Abyss in a thrown together match (it would have been nice had two of the company€™s craziest wrestlers at least receive some build) and Shaw was knocked to the outside where he grabbed a chair. While the ref was distracted, Shaw hit Abyss in the head with it. Yeah, it looked pretty weak, but it was still an unprotected shot to the head and yet Abyss barely sold it. The announcers didn€™t care either. This is a move that should definitively end matches, or kick off an injury angles. It should lead to outrage by Tazz and Tenay, but all it did was cause Shaw to be pinned moments later. As we€™ve seen over these past 12 years, TNA hasn€™t learned how to book interesting storylines, or get their talent over, or make money, or to not consistently embarrass themselves. They also haven€™t learned to keep up with modern society by banning maneuvers that can damage a person€™s well-being. You would think after all these years that they could just get one of those things right!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
