WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 11)

6. Not So Grand Championship

TNA did a good thing in getting rid of their King of the Mountain Championship. It was the most worthless belt in the entire wrestling business. However, I’m still not sure the company needed another title. There are probably a few other things to work on first.

The X-Division Championship means almost nothing at the moment, and the Knockouts Title is held by someone who's never had an actual match in the company, and there’s only like three tag teams in all of TNA. It would be nice if the they would first rebuild those ailing divisions before adding an entirely new one.

The setup of the Grand Championship was also a bit awkward. Jeremy Borash wanted a big old hot scoop from Billy Corgan on what the division was all about, and then Billy quickly turned him down. Then 30 seconds later they went to a pre-taped video of Billy narrating what the division was about!

The matches themselves were fine, but it seemed odd to still use wrestling moves in a more MMA-like format. Perhaps this experiment will turn into something cool (I’m always a fan of clocks in wrestling as they give the matches urgency), but the first order of business for future Grand Championship matches is to turn on the damn lights!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
