WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Sept 11)

5. Bayley’s Story Ends

The two biggest Women’s Division matches WWE could give us right now are: Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks, and Charlotte vs. Bayley. We were given the second one on Raw in the opening match without any build up whatsoever.

It’s frustrating to watch, which is an example of one of WWE’s biggest problems. There are no journeys to follow anymore. The classic underdog Bayley defeated the top woman wrestler in the company within weeks of joining the main roster. That’s it.

Now, many fans are familiar with Bayley in NXT, but millions are not. They didn’t see this story play out as she worked her way up the card. THAT was the money in Bayley. There should have been some variation of that story on the main roster, where we watched her struggle to defeat the mid-card talent, and wonder if she was in over her head. Then in a WrestleMania type setting, way down the road, she finally gets her big one-on-one match with Charlotte and beats her. Something like that may still happen now, but WWE just took chapters out of that book and ripped them all out.

If Kylo Ren got the s**t beat out of him 20 minutes into the The Force Awakens, there wouldn't have been a point to the next two films. It would effectively have been pointless. Now people still may get invested about another Charlotte/Bayley match with the title on the line in the future, but you can pretty much guarantee they'll care a hell of a lot less than they they would have with the proper build.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
