WWE Announces Nine-Team World Cup Match For WWE Crown Jewel 2019
Nine teams to compete in a tag team turmoil match to crown the Best Tag Team in the World.
If WWE delivering a World Cup tournament – won by Shane McMahon! – at last November’s WWE Crown Jewel event wasn’t bad enough, WWE has now announced that a Tag Team World Cup will be taking place at this month’s Crown Jewel event.
To feature nine tag teams, this World Cup battle will “officially” crown the Best Tag Team in the World.
Taking part in the Tag Team World Cup will be Raw Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Revival, The New Day, The OC, The Viking Raiders, Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, The B Team, and the ever-jobber tandem of Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins.
All nine teams will actually be competing at the same time, as this Tag Team World Cup bout will be a Tag Team Turmoil contest – marking this as the largest tag match in WWE history.
In addition to the World Cup, WWE has announced that NXT’s Mansoor Al-Shehail will go one-on-one with Cesaro. If you remember back, Mansoor is actually from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – where Crown Jewel will take place – and won a 50-man Battle Royal back at June’s WWE Super ShowDown. And who did Mansoor eliminate to win that Battle Royal? Why, that’d be Cesaro.
Taking place on Thursday, October 31st at 1pm ET, WWE Crown Jewel will also see Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez, Braun Strowman vs. Tyson Fury, Team Hogan vs. Team Flair, and Roman Reigns in a to-be-announced singles match.
