WWE Armageddon PPVs - From Worst To Best

5. 2006

The Good: Christmas came early for fans who ordered the event, as Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long changed the Paul London & Brian Kendrick versus William Regal & Dave Taylor Tag Title match into a ladder match, also featuring MNM and The Hardys. What a pleasant surprise. Chock full of exciting action and dangerous stunts, fans got their money's worth with this one. A clear match of the night. Chris Benoit and Chavo Guerrero's US Title match was good, but not much different from the 300 other matches they had around this time. Ditto Jimmy Yang and Gregory Helms' Cruiserweight Title collision. Ken Kennedy continued to show main event potential in his Last Ride match with The Undertaker. It was clear watching this that 'Taker was motivated and Kennedy was bound for main event stardom. The Bad: The opening Inferno Match between MVP and Kane was poor. Has there ever been a good Inferno Match? Worse than that was The Miz vs. The Boogeyman. Nobody was expecting a technical masterpiece here, but it was still a really hard watch. The Batista & John Cena versus King Booker & Finlay main event was a typical house show match, i.e. completely by-the-numbers. The Rest: This is the show where Joey Mercury's face exploded. Watching it back, he's very lucky that he didn't lose his eye.
