2. All The Interference Throughout The Show
WWE.comThe last three matches all had heavy doses of interference with the main event having the most by far. We saw guys like Kane and Bradshaw interfere in matches they weren't a part of. There was also interference in the six man tag opener. When you have four matches on the show that have blatant interference it hurts the others. Fans get so accustomed to seeing the interference that it makes the matches feel irrelevant. I can remember being at shows during this period and every time there was a ref bump we were basically conditioned to turn our heads to look at the ramp to see who might be running down to interfere. This was an example of what things were like with Vince Russo as the head writer. While he was very good at giving gimmicks to characters in the midcard, he went a little bit overboard with some of the booking too. Vince McMahon had final say of course, but this was a constant trend in 1999 starting from the Royal Rumble, then WrestleMania and here too.
