WWE Backlash 1999: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

4. The Six Man Tag Opener Was Boring

WWE.comWWE.comThe opening match of a PPV should be exciting. It's a way to start the show off on the right foot by giving the fans a match that gets us ready for the rest of the show. These days WWE does a lot better job of doing that. At this show it was a six man tag that was really boring. While the trio of Gangrel, Edge & Christian were a mysterious group known as The Brood, they really weren't established that much. They were really just known as these bland characters that never spoke (Gangrel did a bit) or did anything that interesting. At least we could see Edge & Christian were talented in the ring and they started to get cheers by this point. Matching them up with Bradsaw, Mideon & Faarooq was a bad move because they were not really that good in the ring. The match ended when Viscera squashed Christian against the side of the ring and Bradshaw finished off Christian with a clothesline. By the way, Christian wrestling wearing that puffy shirt from Seinfeld was a bad fashion choice.
