WWE Backlash 1999: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

And 5 Things That Sucked...

5. The Undertaker Had A Poor Match With Ken Shamrock

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5o900_undertaker-vs-ken-shamrock-backlash_sport These are two guys that I always liked, but it just didn't work with them together. Undertaker was at the point in his career where he was more of a dark, demonic heel character with Paul Bearer at his side again. He actually did some nice technical wrestling holds with Shamrock, who was a UFC veteran, but those sequences didn't really work with this crowd. It felt like it went too long at 19 minutes. They probably could have chopped off ten minutes and it would have been better. It was one of the few matches on the card that the crowd really didn't care about too much by the end of it. You could hear how they were losing interest as it went on. When it looked like Shamrock might come close to winning after applying the Ankle Lock, Undertaker ended up getting some help from Bradshaw with a baseball bat and Bearer distracted him too. The finish was strong with Undertaker doing a sweet counter into a Tombstone, but the rest of the match wasn't that great.
