Heath Slater and Rhyno were already in the final of the SmackDown Tag-Team Title tournament, and their unique babyface characters required heels to go up against in that match. The Usos are the freshest heels in the duos division, having switching alignment by hammering American Alpha post-match on the blue brand's latest TV show.

Nestled on the mid card of Backlash, The Usos faced The Hype Bros for the right to advance to the final stage. As energetic as Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder are however, they wouldn't have been the right choice to face Slater and Rhyno. Conversely, Jimmy and Jey Uso were.

Therefore, it was a smart move to have The Usos come out on top. Not only did this further fan animosity towards their new villainous personas, but it also allowed Heath Slater and Rhyno to look even better later on. Beating clear heels will always get babyfaces a bigger pop, and this was no exception.

Without doubt, having The Usos go through to the final was the best choice for this one, regardless of any Hype Bros popularity.
