WWE Backlash 2018: 10 Things That Must Happen

5. Any Authority Figure Involvement Is Kept Minimal

Hands up who wants to see an in-ring segment during which both Commissioner/General Manager duos on Raw and SmackDown crash the scene to talk about how Backlash is a co-branded pay-per-view? Nobody? Good.

It's in WWE's best interests to keep authority figure involvement minimal on this show. Shane McMahon should still be recovering from Braun Strowman's table-smashing attack at the Greatest Royal Rumble, and the same goes for Stephanie's shattered arm thanks to Ronda Rousey back at WrestleMania.

There's no need to see either on the show at all.

If WWE can't handle a three-hour broadcast without some GM goodness, then a quick altercation between Paige and Kurt Angle is all they'd need. Again though, that wouldn't add anything meaningful to the show, so WWE would be better off avoiding it altogether.
