WWE Backlash 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right

9. Finding An Out For Carmella

It'll take Carmella a while to reach Edge-levels of ultimate opportunism, but everybody has to start somewhere, and Backlash was a decent kickoff for that aspect of her character.

The easy solution to this match for WWE's writers would have been a run in from The IIconics right near the end, or even a Becky Lynch stumble that led to tension between her and Charlotte. They resisted that, and the ending was much better for it.

By capitalising on Flair tweaking her knee off that Moonsault, Carmella looked clever, and it was a nice departure from cheap heel tactics WWE usually employ for cowardly champions.

Charlotte now has no argument. She was beaten fair and square by the SmackDown Women's Champ and can't contest the way it happened. Sometimes, it's nice when a heel is right, so hearing Carmella shove her success in everyone's face should only glean her more heat.
